Aston Martin, a name that needs no introduction to connoisseurs of luxury automobiles, is a staple of the Bond series and 007 wouldn’t have had as much swagger without those sporty vehicles he famously drove in style to chase down his villains. So you can imagine our excitement when we got the chance to play our own version of Bond’s famous gadget man “Q” as we set out to outfit Aston Martin with a few specialized displays capable of keeping up with their busy event program.
2013 marks Aston Martin’s 100th Anniversary so they were ready to celebrate in style at this year’s Pebble Beach Automotive Week, held from August 14-18. While Aston Martin’s vehicles essentially speak for themselves — the company still knew they needed some modular and flexible displays to meet their needs at multiple events during the Pebble Beach festivities, and throughout the year.
Working with Aston Martin’s marketing team we evaluated their event plans, unique venues and logistics challenges then designed displays that matched their style and performed to meet the demands of their busy schedule and needs for quick transport and set up.
The final display solution included eight configurable cube-line 8’x5′ ft modular panels with high impact Silicon Edge Graphics (SEG) featuring Aston Martin vehicles, historical images, and legacy James Bond photographs. The panels were configurable and easy to transfer, which came in handy during the multiple venues being used at Automotive Week. In addition, DisplayWorks created aluminum wheel stands that gave a high-tech, performance look while displaying automotive spec sheets next to each Aston Martin.
The displays were put to the test at Pebble Beach and made the rounds from several unique event venues throughout the week ranging from an airport hangar for McCalls Motorwork Revival, a luxury Aston Martin private château, a beautiful country club for The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, and The Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance.
To support Aston Martin’s busy schedule and need for easy transport, we designed each display to breakdown and fit within custom ATA shipping cases. Keeping dimensions in mind we insured the cases met the standards to ship via FedEx or UPS for when freight shipping is not an option.
