There comes a time in the exhibit business when the impossible simply needs to happen. Deadlines don’t move. Shows don’t wait. And it takes a team to turn “the impossible” into a successful client experience. DisplayWorks’ Houston team recently rose to the challenge to help bring a successful show together for a client working a very challenging deadline.
Enter Primer Nivel Group, an agency based in Mexico. Their client, Vitromex, needed a U.S. based partner to build a 30′ x 40′ exhibit to showcase their line of ceramic and porcelain tile at the Coverings Show in Orlando, Florida. We work on many global exhibit projects, both building here in the U.S. and designing projects here to be built abroad. This all sounded pretty routine except — our first contact with the client was March 23rd and the ship date to make setup was April 9th. That left 17 working days to engineer, build and deliver a custom exhibit — then install over 10,000 sq ft of the client’s tile to complete the finish, covering the floor and all walls of the exhibit at show site.
The Challenge Recap:
- Coordinate, engineer and build a custom trade show booth for international client
- Provide shipping to show site
- Select, procure & ship all furniture to the show site
- Choose, procure & deliver all lighting and AV for the show
- Provide installation labor for all the substrates required for
client product install
- Install of all client tile onto the substrates at the show site
— a 4 Day installation and 10,000 sq. ft. of tile
- Complete all work in 14 days and within budget
To meet production demand we divided the booth into three separate sections to be constructed at three different DisplayWorks facilities simultaneously – Irvine, Phoenix and Houston. With all our teams working to the same DisplayWorks spec-and-build standards, we can ensure proper fit and finish regardless of which facility handles fabrication. Our production managers and account team kept all facilities up to date on progress and we were able to complete the build, including graphics production and a dimensional logo in time to ship out for set up.
The final exhibit was the perfect showcase of our client’s Vitromex tile at the Coverings Show. It was an exhibit literally built from their product ,and truly put the best they had to offer on display. Anna Camarena, Account Supervisor for Primer Nivel Group, shared, “For us, and especially for me, this was a great experience, since you can learn a lot from working abroad and with such a professional team like you guys. Hopefully we´ll get the opportunity to work together in the near future.” We’re looking forward to it too.
