There is no other international convention like CES that showcases the latest electronic gadgets from all over the world. From innovative automobiles to curved televisions and mobile accessories, CES never disappoints. At this year’s convention, mobile accessory fans enjoyed hallway after hallway of accessory options for iPhones, iPads, and Android devices with fashionable trends, styles, and designs. But amid the competition – one company stood out like a pro with their well-designed and innovative products.
X-Doria International, based in Santa Monica, CA. offers unique, energetic designs that reflect brilliant sunset hues and ocean scenes and are a reminder that after all, phone accessorizing should be fun, creative, and quite frankly “a day at the beach.”
So how did X-Doria’s 20’x40’ island exhibit manage to create a sense of warmth and serenity while setting them apart from the rest of the accessory companies at CES? DisplayWorks design team gives us the scoop.X-Doria’s design evolved from an image the client provided. After extensive research the design team determined that X-Doria’s brand was strongly influenced by the southern-California beach lifestyle. Working closely with the client, DisplayWorks’ exhibit designer Jennifer Li incorporated “bold branding images” into the context of the display. “We also recommended that they turn the orientation of the booth 90 degrees to achieve the ultimate usage of the island space” explains designer Jennifer Li.
In an effort to meet the client’s budget, the design team eliminated the reception counter and added triangle display pods for accessories. Small details such as succulent plants were also added to the work stations to add warmth and interest. In addition, “We used an unconventional way to finish the center tower. Instead of using real wood, which is heavy and not very durable, or wood laminate, which wouldn’t have the plank details, we decided to apply vinyl flooring on the tower” adds Jennifer Li.
What about the creative, colorful backdrops which served as a focal point for the exhibit? Utilizing Southern California as a rich source of inspiration for the backdrops, X-Doria snapped some candid photos of models as they strolled along Venice Beach capturing the landmarks and natural surroundings. Hence, visitors from all over the world escaped from the chaos of mobile accessory mayhem at this year’s CES and were able to enjoy this stylish, dynamic exhibit which captured the warmth and beauty of Southern California’s culture.
