With the construction of a new patient tower scheduled to finish in fall 2014, St. Jude Medical Center decided that the interior of their existing facility could also use a fresh new look and brought in DisplayWorks to perform the updates. The objective was to modernize the look and feel of the first floor main hallway and transform its appearance to a space that is warm and welcoming as well as appealing to both the Medical Center’s public audience and its employees. In order to achieve this, DisplayWorks worked closely with St. Jude to create three unique wall displays using traditional artifacts that spoke to the SJMC heritage yet also kept up with new technology and the desired contemporary theme.

The first display is a History Wall that tells the story of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange, from their arrival in the United States in 1836, to their opening of a hospital to present day. This history is presented through both large format graphic murals and an interactive touch screen program developed by DisplayWorks’ Digital Media team.

A space adjacent to the main lobby entrance holds the second display, a new St. Jude Medical Center Core Values Wall featuring a list of these values as well as acknowledgement of key people in the organization who demonstrate them.

The final display mixes form with function and serves as a convenient donation center to support the “Spirit of Giving” program, whereby various types of donations requested from the community can be collected in the lobby. The wall display features flat panels that tell the story of items in need at a particular time and also provide information highlighting St. Jude Medical Center’s involvement within the community. Collection bins are discretely housed beneath a beautiful Corian counter top to keep the space organized and attractive in the high-traffic hallway.

As the completion of St. Jude’s new patient tower grows near, we’re working to add a few more finishing touches, including large graphic panel displays for their hallways and an employee web-based café.
