Irvine, CA – August 9, 2010 — DisplayWorks LLC, a leader in design, fabrication and management of custom tradeshow exhibits and environments, announced the completed build and donation of a custom playhouse to the Children’s Center at the University of New Orleans.
The 5′ x 8′ playhouse was designed to look like a traditional red schoolhouse — complete with bell tower. It is hoped the schoolhouse theme will draw a fun focus on education for the children who stay at the center, while their parents attend courses at the university.
“For one of the smallest projects in our shop this year, it’s certainly gathered big interest within the company,” states DisplayWorks President Herb Hite. The company has built exhibits this year as large as 19,600 sq feet. “It’s a little project with a big heart, and we can’t wait to see the looks on the kids’ faces at the center once it arrives.”
The donation came in support of the “Giving Back to New Orleans” theme inspired by the destination of the 2010 Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association (HCEA) Annual Meeting, held in New Orleans, June 26-29.
To create awareness of the philanthropic theme of the show, DisplayWorks prominently featured a jar full of nails, alongside an artist’s rendering of the schoolhouse in their booth at the HCEA show. Attendees were asked to enter a guess for the number of nails in the jar. Melissa Zimmerman, from Pfizer, Inc, made the closest the guess to the actual number of nails and will have the schoolhouse donated in her name, with a plaque attached honoring her support and interest in the project.
Ms. Zimmerman was thrilled with the honor and added, “I am very excited to be a part of the project! Can’t wait to see the finished product!”
The finished schoolhouse was delivered to New Orleans August 3rd.
